Moving On

So I've decided to put my oil paints away for the time being. I think it may not be my thing, in the same way that alcohol markers are not. I like the look of marker artwork but I could never figure out how to use them well and the smell of the fumes makes me sick. I’m not completely giving up on oil paints but I’m super excited to focus on watercolor. Even though I designated August to be all oil paints all month, I kept going back to my watercolors. They are just so much a part of my daily routine now. Watercolor is so easy to have available, to start painting and there’s so little clean up. I just have to dump the dirty water out. It’s also compact and clean. I was trying to be so neat with the oil paints, which may be why I wasn’t enjoying it very much. Here is a portrait that I started; it’s not bad as a start but it wasn’t fun. And I think that is the most important point.
